Mark E. Shure concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial litigation and creditors’ rights. Mr. Shure’s litigation experience is wide-ranging. He has represented several prominent financial institutions in significant litigation around the country regarding federal guaranteed student loans, including Higher Education Assistance Foundation, Educational Credit Management Corp, Navient Solutions, LLC, Massachusetts Higher Education Assistance Corp., Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corp., and Chase Manhattan Bank. Mr. Shure has represented several owners of closely held companies in disputes against co-owners involving a variety of claims, including misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment, and equitable dissolution. Mr. Shure has represented a large commercial construction company in litigating large mechanics’ lien disputes, and in defending third-party contribution claims in litigation initiated by injured employees. Mr. Shure has represented several former corporate executives who have contended that their former employers breached their employment agreements by failing to make proper severance payments following the employees’ terminations. Mr. Shure has also represented several franchisees in pursuing claims against their franchisors for breaches of their franchise agreements. Mr. Shure represented a large golf software company in several cases involving alleged breaches of the applicable software license agreements.

Mr. Shure is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fourth, Seventh, Ninth, Eleventh and District of Columbia Circuits in addition to all state and federal courts in Illinois. He has also been admitted to practice pro hac vice in state and federal courts throughout the United States.

Mr. Shure was formerly a partner in the Chicago office of McDermott, Will & Emery, and the Chicago law firm of Latimer LeVay Fyock LLC. He was also a principal in the law firm of Keating & Shure, Ltd., which he founded and ran from January, 1993, until December, 31, 2010.

Mr. Shure graduated cum laude from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law in 1984, where he served as managing editor of the Loyola University of Chicago Law Journal.
