CHICAGO, March 9, 2020—Maxson Mago & Macaulay, LLP (“EM³”) is pleased to announce that six new attorneys, including four new partners, are joining the firm’s Chicago office effective March 9, 2020. Partners Joan Lebow, Michael Cohen, Joseph Krcmar, and Damon Newman were all formerly partners in the Chicago office of the Miami-based firm Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A. Two additional attorneys from Quintairos are also joining EM³ as Counsel.
“We are extremely excited about the additional depth and breadth our new partners and counsels bring to the firm,” said EM³ Co-Managing Partner Ajay Mago. “Joan Lebow was chair of her firm’s Healthcare and Technology Practice, and Joseph Krcmar managed the Business & Financial Services Group in the Chicago office. Michael Cohen and Damon Newman are both top-rated litigators. They bring a collective depth of experience that will significantly benefit the firm’s clients.”
Co-Managing Partner Michelle Skinner added, “2020 is going to be an exciting year for EM³, and the addition of these partners is just a start. We look forward to sharing additional updates about the firm’s continued expansion in Chicago and other markets, as well as some recent and upcoming achievements and accomplishments for EM³ and our clients.”
Asked why he thought the Quintairos group decided to make the change, Mr. Mago noted, “Our innovative approach to the practice of law, together with our bench of seasoned corporate and litigation attorneys and collaboration across all of our offices and legal disciplines has proven to be very attractive to many candidates. This group of new EM³ lawyers is an excellent example of what happens when our interests and values fully align with other successful groups of attorneys looking for a better, more efficient, and cost-effective way to deliver legal services.”
He added that “our unique financial model properly rewards all contributors to the firm, and enhances a culture of real partnership.” Innovative thinking and strategic growth are core values at EM³. We have grown intentionally since we started the firm two years ago—we only want outstanding lawyers with strong practices, and this group was an excellent fit for us.”
EM³, based in Chicago, also has offices in Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, and New York. The firm was recently named a 2020 Best Law Firm by “U.S. News and World Report.” It was certified as a minority-owned firm earlier this year by the National Minority Supplier Diversity Council.
The firm has applied to NAMWOLF (the National Association of Minority and Women-Owned Law Firms) and hopes to be admitted this year. More information about EM³ and its partners, practice areas and recent news is available on EM³’s website.
